Doings

I haven’t posted in a while, but baseball goes on.

Los Tigres del Licey won their 11th Caribbean Series.

The college baseball regular season is ongoing.

The arbitration decisions are all made.

Spring training games have begun.

Some teams have already been bitten by the injury bug (Yankees pitcher Frankie Montas had to have shoulder surgery this week and will miss at least the first half of the season).

Next month the World Baseball Classic will be played, starting March 8 in Japan, Taiwan, Phoenix, and Miami. MLB wants it to be like a World Cup, and some of the best players (notably Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout) are participating. I will be watching this year, not because I’m particularly engaged in how the national team does. No, it’s because Ichiro Suzuki is playing. It’s very likely the last time to see him playing in actual/ not exhibition games.
