Tonight the Phillies found themselves down 5-0, same as they did in game 1. This time, though, they could only get 2 back and thus lost 5-2. The Astros kicked things off with back to back to back doubles…leading the game 2-0 after just 4 pitches. Framber Valdez kept a lid on the Phillies offense into the 7th, and the pen did the rest despite a couple Astros defensive miscues.
Jose Altuve broke out of his slump, going 3/4 including lacing a double into left on the first pitch of the game. Alex Bregman launched a 2-run rocket to left in the 5th to close the Astros’ scoring.
The series resumes Monday in Philadelphia.
