You Say You Knew It? You Lie

Okay, I was wrong about much of the wild card round of this year’s playoffs. However, I did say upsets would not be surprising. Also, I know I’m not alone.

If you claim you knew Max Scherzer wouldn’t get out of the 5th inning of the Mets’ game 1 loss to the Padres, coughing up 7 runs…you lie.

If you claim you knew the Phillies would put up six runs in the 9th to win their game 1 against the Cardinals after being shut out the first 8 innings…you lie.

If you claim you knew the Mariners would come back to win 10-9 in game 2 in Toronto after being down 8-1 after 5…you lie.

If you claim you knew the Padres would hurl a one-hit shutout at the Mets to take game 3…the first time ever a team got one hit or fewer in a winner take all postseason game…you lie.

If you claim you knew the Rays would do absolutely nothing offensively against the Guardians’ pitching, including getting shut out in a 15 inning game…well, I believe you on that one.
