Chris Sale missed the 2020 season, and the first half of 2021, following Tommy John Surgery. This offseason he broke a rib during a workout, and didn’t return until last month. Then, in his second game back, a come-backer off Aaron Hicks’ bat fractured his little finger on the throwing hand. It required surgery. He was scheduled to return next month, except…he went on a bike ride after playing catch at Boston College…hit something while going downhill…fell and fractured the right wrist on Saturday. Today said wrist also got operated upon. He will theoretically by ready for the start of spring training, 2023.
He can opt out of the final 2 years and $55M of his contract after the season. Somehow I think he won’t.
