Willie Mays Vaults Twins Into 1st Place With Walk Off Blast

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Bruce Kluckhohn/AP/Shutterstock (12908695r) Minnesota Twins’ Byron Buxton watches a solo home run against the Chicago White Sox during the fourth inning of a baseball game, in Minneapolis. The Twins won 9-2 White Sox Twins Baseball, Minneapolis, United States – 23 Apr 2022

Last night Willie hit a two run (opposite field) homer in the seventh inning to tie the game. In the tenth he hit a 469 foot 3 run walk off, the longest walk off in the history of Stat cast, and probably the longest in the 10 thousand or so year history of baseball, to vault your beloved Twins to a near insurmountable half game lead over the Clevelanders.

His OPS to date is 1.361. He’s hit 6 homers in 37 at bats, which ties him for the MLB lead with a couple of guys who both have over 60 at bats.

Defensively he’s as good as ever and, miracously, his legs (besides the addition of the beard) seem to have grown longer and faster than even what they were in his earlier days.

You are invited to come watch the best baseball player on the planet, and according to the Mars rover so far, the best in the solar system. You might want to choose a day game though, Sometimes Minneapolis isn’t a very nice place to be after dark.
