Fernando Tatis, Jr is one of the best, most exciting players in baseball when healthy. Unfortunately he is not healthy. He is out for then next three months with a broken left wrist.
He has had significant injuries in three of his now four big league seasons. His rookie year ended with a back injury in August 2019. He lost time last season with left shoulder subluxations (partial dislocation). His only injury-free season was 2020, which of course was only 60 games long.
Hopefully he comes back in great shape and will then have seen the last of his name on the IL. The Padres certainly hope so. If not, folks will start using the word “fragile” on him and start talking about how he’s signed through his age 35 season for $340M.
