The Braves traded for A’s all star 1B Matt Olson… and sent CF Christian Pache, C Shane Langeliers, and pitchers Ryan Cusick and Joey Estes. That is, the Braves are sending the A’s their 2nd, 3rd, 9th and 14th rated prospects. That’s a pretty steep price, but it’s not the elephant in the room. That of course would be the Braves have apparently given up on being able to re-sign 2020 MVP and face of the franchise Freddie Freeman. Olson is a very good player, but he’s not Freeman.
The A’s are definitely in a rebuild mode, because they just got 4 more prospects from my Jays for 3B Matt Chapman. Toronto is starting to look like a definite contender this year after coming so close to the postseason last year.

They certainly have the firepower, and there are pundits picking them for the WS.
For my Rays’ rooting interest, Chapman was part of a trade rumor involving the Rays this AM—I am honestly happy that did not happen…although I reserve the right to change my mind if he ends up being a Rays-killer.
