An Agreement, Don’t Get Excited

It seems the MLBPA and MLB met until 2AM eastern. There’s no new CBA, but the two sides did agree on one thing: to extend the deadline for cancelling Opening Day games to 5PM today. Assuming everyone is on time, today’s bargaining session just started.

I guess we will see if genuine progress is being made later today.

I wonder if the owners have noticed or care that (unlike previous labor disputes) most media outlets and fans are blaming them and not the players for the current situation. I’ve read a couple reports saying they are prepared to blow off a month of the season to get their way. That could be a bluff. Maybe.
