The players and owners met for two whole hours on Monday. The players dropped their demand that the service time for later developing players be lessened by one year before they can become free agents. And my God, they met again today.
TWO DAYS IN A ROW!!!
The owners reciprocated by offering to increase the first year minium salary by … 2 1/2 percent!
Other good news: the temperature here soared up from minus 10 degrees to 0 by midafternoon. And unlike the previous three days there was no (for me) life threatening fresh snow on my steps this morning.
And my neighbors keep coming over without being asked and without asking for thanks to help me. More on that later.
We like to say that baseball is like life. If only.
