Ummm…okay. The Cleveland Baseball Team just announced they will cease being called Indians as of the end of this season and become the Guardians. They had a video announcement narrated by Tom Hanks and posted a statement about how the name somehow reflects everyone in Cleveland.
I’m no Clevelander, but my opinion is: meh. It’s not stupid or offensive, but I can’t say it’s cool like I would have thought Spiders—for example—would be. It just seems…corporate.

Slobbering, Murdering Redskins would have been less corporate.

It wasn’t my top pick, but hey it’s better than what they have now, so I’ll take it.

Just being cheap.
They get to keep dians, so swap two letters for four new ones.

Should have gone with Spiders. With this new name I’m just going to call them the Guarindians.
