Quite a few things happened this week in MLB, particularly the BBWAA winners being announced and Kim Ng being named GM of the Miami Marlins—becoming the first woman to be a MLB GM. I posted about none of it. None of it is currently important to me.
That is because this week my 90-year-old mother suddenly became ill and passed away (not COVID). I’ve written about her here before. It was she who taught me to love baseball. She was a lifelong Cubbie who also adopted the Rays when they came into being. She and I used to go to Reds spring training games annually when I was a kid because that was my favorite team. I could go on for a very long time, but I won’t. Suffice to say she was a wonderful woman, I loved her and will miss her forever.
Re: choice of featured image—Daisies were my mom’s favorite.
I expect to be back in a week or two.
