He Said, She Said – Playoffs 10/15/2020

Scouts: There was a lot going on last night, two key baseball games, and two presidential town halls, so you are excused if you, like me had a hard time keeping up with it all. Personally I put my computer into window’d mode and had all four running at once. It…was a lot.

Dodgers 2, Braves 10Scouts: Chalk another one up to the “Kershaw can’t get it done in the playoffs” pile. Clayton started out strong enough, but faded hard in the 5th inning and by the time it was all said and done, he allowed 4 runs on 7 hits and struck out just 4 batters. His relief wasn’t any better, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits with just 1 out recorded. Big Yikes. The Braves absolutely blew the doors off in the 6th inning stringing together hit after hit after hit to the tune of 6 runs. LA is now a game away from elimination and will be praying that Dustin May can get the job done tonight.

Rays 3, Astros 4Scouts: Those pesky Astros just refuse to go away don’t they? Houston has now won their second consecutive game while facing elimination, in a back and forth affair. Houston took the early lead on a George Springer solo homer in the first. Brandon Lowe countered with a solo homer of his own in the 3rd. Not to be outdone, Houston answered with two more in the bottom of the frame. Tampa evened it up in the 8th on a Ji-Man Choi homer. But it was Carlos Correa and the Astros who got the last laugh when Correa smoked a walk off homer to deep center field. And with that, Houston gets to live another day. They still have to rattle off two more wins before they can take a breath, but the momentum is certainly in their favor. Tonight, Framber Valdez will take the bump for Houston, while Tampa will send out Blake Snell.
