Sunday Numb3rs 7

4 & 1

The number of AL and NL teams who’ve clinched a play off spot

Rays, White Sox, Twins, A’s

Dodgers

10

The Yankees current win streak. Good. Get it  out of your system before the playoffs

61

The number of home runs the Yankees Luke Volt would be on pace to hit in a 162 game season which is hardly even fair because they also got Stanton and Judge.

Today’s theme: One Hit Wonders

55 & 45

The number of games the Cardinals will have played in 45 days if they complete their schedule as planned. They’ve managed to go 25 – 24 so far and have a decent chance of making the playoffs. Wonder what Paper thinks about that.

116

The number of games the Dodgers would be on pace to win in a 162 game season. It’s good to be a big market team.

47

The number of games the Pirates would be on pace to win in a 162 game season. It’s bad to be small market team.

58

The number of games the Red Sox would be on pace to win in a 162 game season. Being a big market team isn’t everything.

5.83

The runs per game average of the Dodgers. It’s good to be a big market team

3.63

The number of runs per game the Pirates are averaging. It’s bad to be …

306

The number of homers the Dodgers would be on pace to hit in a 162 game season – and that’s rounding it up!. As of course you all clearly remember the record of 307 belongs to your beloved Twins. Ha ha.

I had to restart this thing pretty much from scratch because Word Press failed to save it, so that’s all I got

I saw this live in Grand Haven Michigan in 1971.

  1. 105: The number of wins the Rays would be on pace to win in a 162 game season.
103: The number of wins the A’s would be on pace to win in a 162 game season.
Being a small market team doesn’t necessarily spell doom.
28: The number of consecutive seasons in which the Yankees have had a winning record now. It’s still good to be a big market team.
1: The number of teams mathematically eliminated from the playoffs with one week to go in the season (the Pirates, with one more Rangers loss or win by either the Blue Jays or Astros for the Rangers to join the list). This is one weird season.
