Anyone who had Pirates in the first team to get ho-hit pool, go to the window and collect your winnings. Can’t imagine you’ll get much—they had to be near the top of the odds table.
Anyway, the White Sox’ Lucas Giolito accomplished the feat in dominating fashion. He struck out 13 and almost had a Maddux—he threw 101 pitches. The only Pirate to reach base was Erik Gonzales on a walk to start the top of the 4th.
If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
If a pitcher throws a no-no and there’s no one there to see it, did it really happen?
If a pitcher throws a no-no against a team that started 6 players hitting under .200, does it really count? https://www.espn.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=401226116
