The Nationals have lost Juan Soto to a positive test. In this 60-game season, even a 2 week absence is a serious dent in the season, and can damage the Nat’s chances in the NL East.
Meanwhile, the Red Sox’ Eduardo Rodriguez is missing the start of the season although now negative for the virus. His infection was symptomatic, and he still hasn’t gotten his stamina back—to the tune of felling tired after a 20-30 pitch practice session. Last year I had a pneumonia in June, recovered after a week, but it took a month before I was able to go hiking again. The Red Sox can ill afford to lose him. Their rotation was already a mess. Anyway, best of luck and good health to him, Juan Soto…and everyone else.
