He Said, She Said – Recaps For 10/17/17

Scouts: Sorry for the lack of a post yesterday folks, I had been feeling a little sickly for a few days, and then yesterday it just all hit me hard.  Usually I try to find a way to send out the bat signal to Prof, but I was down for the count pretty much all day.  Thankfully I’m getting back on track, so let’s get to it.

Astros 4, Yankees 6Scouts: Oh boy.  Houston had this one in the bag, and the pen coughed this one up big time, blowing a 4-0 lead by giving up a pair in the 7th and 4 in the 8th. Aaron Judge who blew a scoring opportunity on the basepaths in the 4th, made up for it in the 7th with a two-run homer.  He also doubled in a run in the 8th.  And with that suddenly we have ourselves a tie series.  Dallas Keuchel will attempt to curtail the bleeding for the Astros while Masahiro Tanaka will try to keep the ball rolling for New  York.

Dodgers 6, Cubs 1Scouts: I didn’t get a chance to watch this game as it started well past when I was in my thrid or fourth flu coma of the day.  However it would appear that the late season trade for Yu Darvish has started to pay off for the Dodgers as Yu outduled Kyle Hendricks holding the Cubs offense to 1 run over 6 innings, while Hendricks got lit up for 4 runs on 6 hits over 5 innings pitched.  Andre Ethier and Chris Taylor both homered for the Dodgers who have all but put this series away.  The Cubs will turn to Jake Arrieta to save their season and hope thy can get to Alex Wood.

  1. Ouch. That one tickled. The Astros had better wake up to a tough series fast. So now it’s a best two of three series:
Pros – Two games in Houston. Houston’s two best pitchers are up.
Cons – The Yankees are hot. The Astros aren’t.
It’s also a rested bullpen against a heavily utilized bullpen. But guess what folks, the heavily used bullpen is looking much better.
    Crunch time.
