Former Major leaguer, Manny Ramirez (44 years of age) injured himself just a couple of days ago in a match against the Tokushima Indigo Socks of the BCL (Baseball Challenge League) while running out on a grounder heading to first base. Manny was clearly in pain, and was eventually removed from the game to conduct an MRI test regarding about his injury (play can be seen here)… and, it turns out, that he pulled a muscle in his left leg. He’ll be out for at least a week or so according from recent reports, and was removed from the active roster today.
Manny Ramirez signed a deal with the Kochi Fighting Dogs just last year, where his contract includes an unlimited sushi, free hotel stay, and a Mercedes-Benz. He recently said in an interview this year, after his contract expires with Kochi, that he is open to play for Nippon Professional Baseball teams if the interest is there, and probably more added sushi is included the contract.
