Former Major leaguer, Akinora Iwamura, 38 years of age, has announced his retirement from Baseball, according to the official site of the Baseball Challenge League, Fukushima Hopes (an Independent league team) in Japan just today, a press conference will be held for Iwamura tomorrow.
Akinori Iwamura made his Major league debut with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays (formerly) in year 2007 after signing a 3-year deal worth 7.7 million USD (along with a club option of 4.25 million USD) in the off-season via the posting system after playing in Nippon Professional Baseball, with the Tokyo Yakult Swallows, for 9 years. In 4 seasons in the Majors, he owns a batting line of .267/.345/.375 with 16 homeruns and 117 RBIs in 408 career games played.
Akinori Iwamura spent the 2015 and 2016 season as player/manager for the Fukushima Hopes.
