Orioles, Trumbo Agree to Terms Pending Physical

The Orioles and Mark Trumbo have agreed to a three year contract, pending physical (of course). The deal is reported to be $37.5 million for three years with deferrals, according to Jim Bowden of ESPN.

Trumbo was being discussed around the league as a DH prospect or an outfielder for a team who needed a hard hitter more than defensive prowess, but he returns to Baltimore.

This is good news for me, because now I can buy that Trumbo jersey I have been eyeing. My big ol’ bae is back, and Prof is a very happy lady.

Trumbo has been in the league since 2010, and has a career average .251 with 178 home runs lifetime, including a league-leading 47 homers last season.

  1. Personally, I was looking forward to the draft pick, and wasn’t too thrilled with adding payroll at a time where they have some major free agents on the horizon, but in the end they did get Trumbo at a relative bargain, so I suppose this worked out quite well for the team. Hopefully he posts similar power numbers next year and improves his OBP a little.
