Choi Ji-man signs minor league deal with New York Yankees

Free Agent 1B/DH, left-handed hitter Choi Ji-man, 25 years of age, have been reported to have signed with the New York Yankees today on a minor league deal, which also includes an invite to spring training. The announced contract details for Choi Ji-man was said to be worth an estimated 822 million Won (700,000 USD in annual salary), with 470 million Won (400,000 USD) worth in added incentives… making it 1.1 million USD overall, via report.

The South Korean native, Choi Ji-man, finished his 2016 rookie season campaign with the Los Angeles Angels batting a low .170/.271/.339 with 5 homeruns and 12 RBIs in 54 games played (129 plate appearances, to go along with 112 at-bats) last year. Choi recently rejected a minor league assignment by the Angels last week (Thursday), making him a free agent this off-season… he currently owns a batting line of .308/.408/.488 with 40 homeruns and 242 RBIs in 388 games (1605 plate appearances, along with 1349 at-bats) in 6 seasons playing in the minor leagues.
