Edwin Escobar signs with Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters

Free Agent left-handed pitcher, Edwin Escobar, 24 years of age, will be playing his next season in the NPB (Nippon Professional Baseball) with the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters of the Pacific league, an official announcement was made just today. According to the report, Edwin Escobar’s contract was said to be on a one-year deal that is worth an estimated 90 million Yen (780,000 USD in annual salary), and will wear the uniform number 42 per the organization, he will also be used primarily as a reliever for the upcoming season.

The Venezuelan born Edwin Escobar (also the cousin of Kansas City Royals infielder Alcides Escobar) made his Major league debut at the age of 22 back in August 27, 2014… and played for 2 seasons there at the Major league level with the Boston Red Sox, and Arizona Diamondbacks respectively. He currently owns a record of 1-2, and an earned run average of 7.01 in 27 games played (25.2 innings pitched) in his career, primarily as a reliever. Escobar finished his 2016 regular season campaign with the D-Backs owning a record of 1-2, and an earned run average of 7.23 in 25 games (23.2 innings pitched) last year, mostly as a reliever.

  1. Yeah, I hear that Japanese ham can get cantankerous. Stick with tender, compliant Kobe beef. Is it more expensive? Sure. But you can have a nice dinner without getting your fingers bitten.
