Samsung Lions to sign Mauro Gomez

Free Agent infielder, Mauro Gomez, 32 years of age, will be playing his next season in the KBO (Korean Baseball Organization) with the Samsung Lions, an announcement was made just today. According to the report, negotiations are now on the final stages, as both sides are close to finalizing a one-year deal. Mauro Gomez will replace Aarom Baldiris there at third base for Samsung… who was released by the organization during the regular season due to a season ending injury (ruptured Achilles tendon) he suffered back in August of last year.

The former Major leaguer of the Boston Red Sox, Mauro Gomez, finished his 2016 regular season campaign with the Hanshin Tigers, of the NPB (Nippon Professional Baseball) Central league batting .255/.325/.428 with 22 homeruns and 79 RBI in 139 games played (554 plate appearances, to go along with 498 at-bats) last year… despite showing power, and was also some sort of a fan-favorite among Hanshin fans, Gomez wasn’t retained (the Hanshin Tigers organization were expecting more from him last year, but did not live up to their expectations).
