Jimmy Paredes signs with Chiba Lotte Marines

Free Agent utility player, Jimmy Paredes, 28, will be playing his next season in NPB (Nippon Professional Baseball) with the Chiba Lotte Marines of the Pacific league, an announcement was made just today. According to the report, the contract details for Paredes was said to be on a one-year deal that is worth an estimated 140 million Yen (1.2 million USD in annual salary), uniform number is still yet to be known, he will also be used primarily as an outfielder for the upcoming season, replacing Alfredo Despaigne (after the team failed to re-sign him).

The Dominican born Jimmy Paredes played for 6 years there at the Major league level (with the Houston Astros, Kansas City Royals, Baltimore Orioles, Toronto Blue Jays, and Philadelphia Phillies respectively). He currently owns a batting line of .251/.286/.369 with 20 homeruns and 100 RBI in 332 games played (1012 plate appearances, to go along with 951 at-bats) overall in the big leagues, as a utility player. He finished his 2016 regular season campaign with the Phillies batting .217/.242/.350 with 4 homeruns and 17 RBI in 76 games.
