The Stove Is So Fucking Hot, It’s Already Burning In 2019!

The hot fucking stove is so hot, it’s already 2019 apparently.  The Nationals and Bryce began to have very early talks about a long-term contract extension.  And apparently it went to poorly that the Nationals are already ready to move on in 2019.

Harper, according to the executive, is asking for a record deal that will exceed 10 years in length, and likely pay him in excess of $400 million.

Holy Shit.  Now of course this is coming from an anonymous source and anything can happen in the next few years, but Daaaaaymn!  I love me some baseball gossip, and this is the juiciest, tenderest gossip in a long time.  It’s so damn good it’s keeping me warm at night.  Assuming nothing changes in the next few years, 2019 will be a stupid off-season.  This may explain why the Nats are pushing to hard for both Chris Sale and Andrew McCutchen.  They seem to be preparing for a full rebuild in a few years.

Harper, just 24, is expected to be the centerpiece of a the star-studded free agent class of 2018 that includes Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado, Baltimore Orioles center fielder Adam Jones and closer Zach Britton, Pittsburgh Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen, New York Mets starter Matt Harvey, and potentially Cy Young winners Clayton Kershaw of the Los Angeles Dodgers and David Price of the Boston Red Sox, who have opt-out clauses.

Of course we all know how it’ll likely end up..

And that is the day I will officially quit baseball.
