Jeremy Hellickson Ain’t No Fool; Accepts QO from Phillies

As of about 4:40 PM EST, the only athlete who had taken this year’s qualifying offers from their respective baseball club has been the Phillies’ Jeremy Hellickson.

This season is relatively devoid of quality starting pitchers, and while Hellickson isn’t necessarily considered “quality”, he did have a banner year with Philadelphia last season and would have been a good project for a team who needed a fourth starter.

Because of his history, I can’t imagine Hellickson would have gotten a better deal from a competing team.

In other news, players such as Jose Bautista, Mark Trumbo, and Yoenis Cespedes have rejected their teams’ QOs.
