The Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters won this year’s Japan Series, defeating the Hiroshima Toyo Carp by a score of 10-4 at Mazda Baseball stadium, their first championship title since 2006.

In a 4-4 tie in the top of the 8th, is where the Fighters offense erupted, issuing a bases loaded walk to Sho Nakata scoring the runner from 3rd breaking the tie, a bases loaded RBI single by pitcher (reliever) Anthony Bass extending the lead to 6-4… and lastly, Brandon Laird’s kokoro bureku grandslam for a 10-4 lead.

With the Japan Series now to a close, both Hiroki Kuroda and Takahiro Arai, of the Carp, will be retiring. I’m no fan of either team cause I’m a die hard Rakuten Eagles fan all the way, but, in this series, I’m mostly rooting for the Carp to win it all… Sadly, that did not happen.
Oh well, still an amazing game to the end, no doubt.
