Joe Girardi in tears at the podium talking about A-Rod’s final game

Really sad to see, though I know pretty much about A-Rod’s history, it’s still hard not to get emotional over this.

During the interview, Joe Girardi even said (via Bryan Hoch’s twitter link).

“If this is the last time he plays, I wanted it to be something he never forgot.”

Alex Rodriguez played his final game today with the Yankees at home, facing the Tampa Bay Rays, DH’ing (was moved to 3rd base in the 9th), he finished the night going 1 for 4 with an RBI double in a 6-3 Yankees win.

  1. I love cheap sentiment almost as much as I love children.

Incidentally, Jar Jar Baseball had some nice things to say about A-Roid today, stoking rumors that Scrooge McLoria might want to take him on at the major league minimum salary. I think that’s fine. Scarface finished his career here, so why schouldn’t A-Roid?
