The Midnight Snack – Anxiety Ridden Prof Edition

Thanks to everyone who sent me well wishes. I think everything went well, but I don’t know. Part of having severe anxiety disorder is never being able to accurately tell how social situations actually turn out, because in my mind it’s always a disaster even when it turns out to be great. Also, another fun thing about anxiety disorder is that I basically had a recurring panic attack all day. Good times. A dear friend sent me a photo of their dog being extra cute, which cheered me up. Feel free to send photos of beautiful black cats, as they are my favorite.

As your resident MadBum disliker-in-chief, this stat made me smile a little bit.

Yeah, I’m a hater, so what? But you know what I love? Mascots. Duh.

Silly Mariner Moose. You know what else I love?

Yep. Two out of three ain’t bad.

Starting to feel a little bit better now after about…oh, sixteen hours of extreme nerves? So now it’s time for Bob Ross on YouTube and an attempt to go to sleep. Have a good one, fam.

  1. I’ll just say that social anxiety (as well as a few other related things) has been on my plate for many years. This being a baseball site, I don’t want to go into it in detail on here. However, whenever I see someone hurting I want to respond. I don’t know how to PM you Prof, and if you prefer I won’t, but I’d like to. At any rate I’m glad the acute nerves part is over, though the waiting game begins right?

  2. Social anxiety can be paralyzing. I used to suffer from that and sometimes when in very unfamiliar surroundings still do. I do the Stuart Smalley affirmation in my head occasionally. Seriously I do!
I was going to post a pic of my Yorkie Hercules for you but I cannot figure out how to do it..sigh

    • Oh, Chef. ā¤ You are a friend, and I appreciate you greatly.

Usually I can handle my anxiety, at least enough that it doesn’t completely ruin my day. I mean, I have issues every day, but it’s usually not something that really puts me at risk or gives me overwhelming panic attacks, etc. Yesterday, though… this is a really, really important thing for me. You have no idea how much I need to get out of the Midwest and onto someplace I feel comfortable and excited to be. Where the majority of my friends live.

I think I have your email address (perks of being a mod on this board lol), and I will contact you there. Then you can send me pictures of your Yorkie. I love Yorkies, so cute. Fun fact – Greg Maddux also has a Yorkie. His name is Baxter. šŸ˜›

Ok, I’ll refrain from sending one of my three year old hugging my four year old from behind and pressing her cheek against her sister’s because you might die of cute overload.
