Update: NPB Yokohama DeNA Baystars to sign Giants pitcher Mike Broadway

Update, July 14th: It is official, the Yokohama DeNA Baystars have signed right-handed pitcher Mike Broadway, 29, on a one-year deal worth an estimated 60 million Yen (570,000 USD)… a trip first to Ni-gun (minors) for a little tune-up is to be expected before he’ll make his Ichi-gun debut. The NPB league team, Yokohama DeNA Baystars (of the Central league), have announced today that they will be signing right-handed pitcher (reliever), Mike Broadway, 29 years of age, of the San Francisco Giants on a deal… Mike Broadway is slated to arrive in Japan next week to meet with the teams’ officials, after being DFA’d by the Giants just recently back in July 4th… The DeNA Baystars will be using Broadway primarily, also, as a reliever this season for the team, per the report.

Mike Broadway made his Major league debut with the Giants in 2015, but went for a record of 0-2 in the year while compiling an ERA of 5.19 in 17.1 innings pitched (21 games overall)… This 2016 season, he appeared in just 4 games with his team, 5.1 innings pitched, and with a record of 0-0… Broadway owns a 30-27 record in his minor league career, an ERA of 4.02 in 530 innings pitched (302 games overall, 23 in which he started). He finished his 2016 campaign with the Giants minor league affiliate, Triple-A Sacramento River Cats (of the Pacific Coast League), with a record of 0-3, while having an ERA of .3.94 in 29.2 innings pitched (26 games).
