Report out of South Korean sports news media outlet sportalkorea link above, the KBO league team Hanwha Eagles are set to pursue, and sign southpaw Erik Surkamp, 29 years of age, of the Texas Rangers this season on a one-year deal… they have already established contact, and are now on the final stages of the negotiations… if Erik Surkamp passes his medical test, he will now be able to play for them this season in the KBO… Will be providing updates of this soon if the deal’s been finalized.

In this 2016 MLB regular season, Erik Surkamp, so far, has a record of 0-5 with an ERA of 6.98 in the year, he currently owns a record of 4-8 while having an ERA of 6.68 in his Major league career. He was claimed by the Texas Rangers just recently back in June 29th from the Oakland Athletics.

With Eagles right-handed starting pitcher Esmil Rogers out due to an injury (he undergo surgery last month in late June) with an MRI revealing inflammation in his right elbow… the Eagles are one player short on the required 3 foreign player limit quota on the active roster, and are in need of a pitcher (as they only have 2 players carrying for now, right-handed starting pitcher Fabio Castillo and DH/1B/C Wilin Rosario), resulting Hanwha being active in the foreign market in these past couple of weeks…

There are also reports coming from Hankookilbo and other SK media outlets indicating that Esmil Rogers is on the verge of being released by the team due to his injury, retained for 1.9 million USD in the off-season by the Hanwha Eagles… Esmil Rogers is currently the highest paid player in KBO league history today, but, so far… he has yet to show his 2015 season form in which he posted a record of 6-2 and an ERA of 2.97… This 2016 KBO season, before the injury, Rogers appeared in just 6 games this season while posting an ERA of 4.30, and with a record of 2-3 in the year.
