Bryce Harper Drops Appeal

Washington Nationals super star Bryce Harper decided to drop the appeal for his suspension and served the suspension in the second game of a day-night doubleheader tonight with the Marlins.  Harper was suspended for his altercation with umpire Brian Knight on Monday in which cameras captured Harper returning to the field after the game to curse out Knight.  As of the writing of this article, the Nationals are losing to the Marlins 7-1 in the 8th.

  1. The way they’ve been playing lately, the Feesh were no doubt delighted with the gift of a soft spot in the Gnats’ lineup. Harper killed them yesterday and they pitched around him three times during the first game loss – and he scored a run for their trouble.

  2. In the end, the one game suspension ended up being nearly meaningless as most single digit suspensions are. I’m certain Harpers appeal was calculated precisely so he could serve a suspension during the double-header when Dusty was probably planning on giving him a game off anyway.
