The Midnight Snack – Tuesday

Song of the evening is an old one that somehow I doubt 99% of the readership here has ever heard, but still one of my favorites.

Shall we begin?

Like Lambs To The Slaughter: The other day, I mentioned in the comments of one of Inda’s recaps that my wee precious, Scooter Gennett, has hit more home runs himself than the entire Atlanta Braves organization. Scooter, who last year had such problems with plate discipline that he was sent down to Colorado Springs for a large portion of the year even though the Brewers needed a second baseman. That same guy has hit more home runs than the roster of an alleged major league baseball team.

But that’s not the worst of it. This, my friends, is the worst of it.

Cutch hit as many in one day as the Braves have all season.

Somewhere I hear the ghost of Skip Caray. “And like lambs to the slaughter, the Braves take the field…”

Give Me ALL The Fielding Pitchers:  You guys know what I’m about. Mascots. Silly stuff. Everything to do about pitchers. I love when pitchers bat, but y’all, I LOVE when pitchers field. I feel that these days, a pitcher who gives the team an advantage with his glove while fielding is a rarity. I mean, my favorite player of all time is also one of the finest fielding pitchers who ever lived, so of course I have an appreciation for that kind of thing.

Which is why, when I saw this play, I nearly fangirled the house down. I don’t even care that it’s a Cardinal who made this out, that’s how cool this is. Real recognizes real. Here’s the gif, but I highly recommend clicking the link above so you can see it in all of it’s glory.
