Orioles Place Miguel Gonzalez On Release Waivers

The Orioles have placed right handed starting pitcher Miguel Gonzalez on release waivers.  Gonzalez was scheduled to make 5.1M this season.

Gonzalez had been a mainstay in the Orioles rotation dating back to his MLB debut in 2012. From that point through 2014, he consistently produced excellent results — he carried a 3.45 ERA over 435 2/3 innings — but his peripherals always suggested a fall-off. That’s exactly what occurred last year, as Gonzalez produced a 4.91 ERA over 144 2/3 innings.

I expected Gonzalez to be the team’s 4th starter this season, but he’s had a disastrous spring training, and it appears the team is ready to move on after a poor 2015.  No work on who will be replacing him in the rotation, although my best guess is on either Mike Wright or Tyler Wilson.  I will miss Miguel, I was a big fan of his.
