Fan Interference

Kansas City Royals RHP Edinson Volquez, 32, a pitcher after my own heart, pitched 3 no-hit innings yesterday. Afterwards, he proclaimed:

“I feel sexy right now. You know what happen when I feel sexy, right?”

Uh. No. Tell us. The reporter apparently didn’t ask the hard-hitting follow-up question.

So, he feels sexy after he pitches 3 no-hit innings in a meaningless spring training game. What would happen if he ever pitched a no-hitter or perfect game? I don’t think the world could handle the sexy.

This is not the first reported sexy outting for Edison Volquez. Last fall, Volquez reported feeling sexy during the playoffs against the Blue Jays, when he pitched down and away.

“I told him, ‘I feel sexy throwing down and away,’ “ Volquez said. “And he told me, ‘All right, let’s do it.’ He trusted me to do it that way.”

I’ll keep you posted on any further sexy Volquez developments. I feel I found my niche.
