Positive news for Kang Jung-ho

(Must watch vid.)

Reported via YTN just today, actual video happened a couple of days ago in Florida. In the video above, 5 months after the knee surgery… Kang Jung-ho was taking grounders for the first time after Chris Coghlan’s take-out slide last September, which ended Kang’s 2015 MLB rookie season, undergoing surgery after to repair a displaced lateral tibial plateau fracture with a lateral meniscal fix. The Pirates organization said that the injury would take at least 6-8 months to heal, but based from the news video above, things are already looking pretty good now for Kang… he has shown a rapid recovery than expected… mainly focusing on rehabilitation (Kang didn’t return to South Korea last year like what Ryu and Choo did, he just stayed there in the US), it also looks like that there is a chance that we might see Kang appear in some games in this upcoming spring training. A healthy and steady return for Kang Jung-ho in April is bound to happen.

Kang Jung-ho, who was 3rd place in the NL Rookie of the Year race voting last year, finished his rookie season with a batting line of .287/.355/.461… hitting 15 homeruns and 58 RBI’s while playing shortstop and 3rd base for the Pittsburgh Pirates… Via ZiPS, his projected 2016 MLB stats suggested that he will have a batting average .253, while hitting 15 homeruns and 62 RBI’s in the upcoming season. Pittsburgh Pirates pitchers and catchers report to Bradenton, Florida for the start of spring training this Wednesday, the full squad/roster reports will be on February. 22, and their first workout is the day after.

(VIDEO UPDATE, just today…)

(Just a month ago in Bradenton, Florida, Kang Jung-ho was also doing some long toss without having any problems.)

  1. I’m very glad this going well. I hate the terrible leg injuries that second basemen and shortstops get in these collisions. I hope it heals completely.

  2. Great news. He has a very bright future. I targeted and got him at extreme discounts in some roto leagues already. He’s going to start moving up the ADP steadily over the coming weeks. He had a reverse split against lefthanders last season in a very limited sample. If he makes that adjustment, he could be in for a monster season.
