It seems the Nats are thinking about parting ways with Drew Storen and Papelbon. What’s hilarious to me is the chatter, according to Jayson Stark.
[O]ne American League executive speculated that the Nats wouldn’t get much more than “a very minor prospect” if they traded Papelbon, while a National League executive said he’d “put [Storen] in the eighth inning every day and pay him good money to do it.”
Paps is so toxic that teams won’t even give the Nationals the sort of the prospects that they give the Braves! The future looks pretty bright for Storen, though, and a change of scenery (away from Papeltrash) will do him a world of good.
Asking Only Workmen’s Wages/I Come Looking For a Job/But I Get No Offers: The Mets are still interested in Jerry Blevins. Apparently, the Astros have been sniffing at his door, I think that might be a good pickup for Houston. Once Blevins is healthy, he could be a decent innings eater – lifetime ERA is around 3.50 or so, so he could be a back end reliever and still work well in that bullpen. In a perfect world, the Mets would sign Drew Storen to get him back with his old buddy Tyler Clippard (he of the nerd glasses brigade – I follow all players who rock the glasses) and in a New York Groove.
Fan Interference 
This weekend, my 13 year old niece informed me that one of her little boy bands did a cover of Cecilia, so now she likes Simon & Garfunkel. I about had a heart attack and tried to find a polite way to suggest that the song was inappropriate for her listening, when my sister piped in to say “they cut that verse” before I got to the subject matter. I presume they filled the void with oohs and ahhhs and gratuitous hair flipping.

Yep. 5 Seconds of Summer. I know of this boyband. I do not approve of this boyband. Yes, I am a boyband snob. You probably didn’t know there was such a thing, but I am one, and I don’t care if it eats into my street cred.
That cover is terrible. Never accept anything less than the ethereal quality vocals of Simon and Garfunkel.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go listen to “The Only Living Boy In New York” and enjoy exquisite harmonies.

This admission has zero effect on your current level of street cred. I’m not sure if you even have enough street cred, to be allowed to refer to street cred as a thing.

Simon and Garfunkel is, in my estimation, second only to Crosby, Stills, and Nash in harmonious wonderfulness, And Paul Simon by himself was pretty damned good too.

We still love you, even if your street creed (SC) is negative, much like Drake’s SC and James Russell’s WAR. If it makes you feel better, everyone who comments on this blog, myself included, has negative street cred. Buncha nerds.

Art Garfunkle is a superlative harmonizer but otherwise in life pretty much an empty suit.
Paul Simon is one of the most gifted songwriters of my or any of the two subsequent generations.

But I laughed and laughed that they want to dump Paps. I hope they have to take a bag of balls for him. Phillies won’t look so dumb then, huh?
I know this is a building move, but I still want to think of it as purging the Paps anyway. That’s my narrative, and I’m sticking to it.

Since you opened the door. Having him on your team seems to be approximately as enjoyable as getting a pap smear. This is based, of course, on 100% hearsay and 0% personal experience.

I pretty much lost it when I read that part of the story. “minor prospect”. Especially when dude’s so vocal about being the best of the best and everything.

Scouts – I’m not looking for an additional search feature, just a link to the menu of old stored posts – unless you’re dumping them instead of saving them. If you are saving them, how do we go back to see them again? I can’t see a mechanism to do that simply.
