The Midnight Snack – Friday

Could it be?

I have absolutely nothing to talk about tonight?

Even Bryce is like, “Well, what can we possibly talk about? There’s nothing good on the Stove this evening. No one has accepted any Qualifying Offers. There’s not even anything on Twitter to get mad about!”

Get as excited as Paps here, because I found something that can only be described as ridiculous. And I love ridiculous.

This, friends, is a scene from “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” – special guests were Eric Hosmer and Salvador Perez of the Royals, discussing their fresh World Series win. Jimmy shows us a clip of Bret Saberhagen from 1986 in a Ford commercial.

This is relevant to my interests for several reasons:

  1. Local commercials, especially poorly done ones, are some of my most favorite things in the world to see.
  2. Bret Saberhagen was the first pitcher that I actively followed and knew by name. (I was probably about six or seven years old and thought he was absolutely the coolest dude on the planet.) I think it’s a giant and strange coincidence that he, too, wore #31. Weird.
  3. Sabes can’t carry a tune in a paper bag. Eminem and MGK are safe. Macklemore is safe. Hell, Vanilla Ice is safe.

The resulting skit is actually not very funny, but I’m linking to the video so you can see this majestic commercial for yourself.

You’re welcome.

Have a great weekend, fam. /Saberhagen Shuffles out of here/

    1. @historio- I agree, even though it was inevitable that the Royals would win, they just aren’t a likable team and I rooted against them all the way up to having to root for a N.Y. team.

Yes, I did take a two hour shower alternating between sobbing and scrubbing myself with bleach and a grille brick, but I had to root against them. I’m in therapy now, so I have that going for me I guess.
