This is The Game That NEVER ENDS: Brian Dozier did something pretty awesome today. He hit an infield double. I know, I know – that sounds impossible. But behold! Here is video evidence:
That happened roughly a week ago. This game lasted five years. I’ve already died twice and am currently blogging from beyond the grave.
Actual Rant Actually Ranted: Allow me to paint a picture.
“Well, the Blue Jays won. Let’s see the box score for the Braves game. [sputters, at a loss for words] What the ever loving hell? Four runs? Let’s see, did they pull…. WHAT THE HELL, FREDI? Why did you keep Wisler in until the sixth when he got lit up in the fourth? WHY? [voice cracks] WHAT THE F&*$KING F&$*K IS THIS BULL$#!T? [Throws a stuffed animal against the side of the sofa]”
Pitching With the Devil: I offer this tweet with no further explanation —
On a serious note: Jimmy Nelson was hit on the back of the head by a Tommy Pham comebacker in tonight’s Brewers/Cardinals game. Good news, though – he only sustained a contusion and will be in the hospital overnight for observation. Jimmy is one of the few bright spots in the Brewers’ year. I’m not going to post a photo because even though there’s no blood, it’s still a frightening scene to have seen. I was actually watching the Brewers game this evening and saw the whole thing go down. My best wishes to Jimmy for a speedy recovery, and to Tommy Pham as well. I know that no one wants to see that happen no matter what.
In other infield double news….

I like this one better, because instead of Dozier who was rounding first while the ball was in the air….Bryant ran straight through first and then broke for second when he realized that the infielders were playing grabass instead of getting the ball. Dozier’s is more flukey, Bryant’s is more heads-up baserunning.

I still don’t understand how the Angels just let that ball sit there when they could see Dozier getting his hustle on. That’s just stupid.
I think that Cubs highlight would be better with the Benny Hill chase music. 🙂

That music might work better here…

That’s not a double. It’s an error. I’m so sick of this “They didn’t touch the ball so it’s not an error” mentality. An error is any play that should reasonably be made and was not.

Official scorekeepers probably don’t know who to charge the error to, I’m guessing?

I’ve very pro error. It got so bad my softball team refused to let me keep score because everyone’s average would drop in half. I say give one to the pitcher there. Or the first baseman for doing his very best statue impersonation. Playing the shift didn’t help.

You would’ve lost your mind during the Brewer game. Three errors and there could’ve been at least oneore. When your best fielder is Scooter Gennett, you have problems. (But I like Scooter, he’s a good kid.)
